Hunger Games I. In the ruins of what was once North America is the nation of Panem, a glittering Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts that support and feed it. In memory of a long-past rebellion, the Capitol is harsh and cruel, and the rebellion is remembered annually by the ‘reaping’ of one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen from each district. They are forced to be contestants in the Hunger Games – a fight to the death in a massive, purpose-built arena, a fight which is broadcast on live television. There can only be one winner. Sixteen-year old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to volunteer to take her younger sister’s place. But Katniss is a natural survivor –  and if she is to win, she must make choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. https://cosmiccauldronbooks.com.au/p/the-hunger-games-catching-fire-suzanne-collins-3/   https://cosmiccauldronbooks.com.au/p/the-hunger-games-mockingjay-suzanne-collins/
