Described as an angry novel, the story is of the fifty-year battle between two titans trying to dominate the future of Alaska – still a territory. Czar Kennedy and Thor Storm: one man loves and respects the land; the other is there for as much profit as he and his cronies can grab. One man’s son married the other man’s daughter, a union which produced Christine, raised by both grandfathers after the death of her parents. Despite such an upbringing by two very different characters, she learns to think for herself and to be honest and curious about the world. Her tale is parallel to the fate of Alaska – as Nature and Beauty  do battle with Industry and Commerce, and the Future had not yet decided which side it would take…
