  • While recuperating from a broken leg, professional photographer L. B. "Jeff" Jefferies is confined to a wheelchair in his apartment in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. His rear window looks out onto a courtyard and other apartments and during an intense heatwave, watches his neighbours go about their daily lives. Son Of The Mask: The mask has made its way from Edge City to Fringe City, where it's found by aspiring animator Tim Avery's dog. Not only that, it turns out that the mask belongs to Loki, Norse God of trickery and when Tim puts on the mask for his studio's Halloween party he becomes a green-faced party animal who can magically alter his surroundings. There's more mayhem in the making when Tim and his wife have sex while Tim's still wearing the mask - resulting in a baby born with the same powers as the mask. Now Loki and Odin are on the trail - and Loki wants his mask back!
  • Showman Hank Whirling is determined to turn his struggling circus into a success despite the ruthless attempts of his former partner Borman to sabotage the dream. At a press party a lion is let loose, generating accusations of publicity-seeking; when the circus tent is set ablaze, there are suspicions that Borman has planted saboteurs. When the circus train derails, killing one of his star trapeze artists, Whilring scraps the rest of the route, and in a risky gamble, determines to play one big show in Buffalo and then beat his rivals the Bormans to open in New York three weeks ahead of them.
  • When Alice Lang flies out to Kenya to marry gamekeeper Andrew Miller, she is met by his brother Rusty, who is initially opposed to the marriage. They are attracted to each other, but when Andrew is attacked by a lion, Alice nurses him back to health.  Now she is torn between affection and duty, and must choose a path to follow.   • Baker, a private in the British Army in the 1880s, finds himself in the middle of Barash during a siege by Mahdi forces. Finding a boat to escape, he brings fellow soldier Murchison, governess Margaret Woodville and the daughter of an emir, Asua. Travelling down the treacherous Nile River they encounter wild animals, dangerous traders and fearsome tribesmen - and are then drawn into an attack on a Mahdist fort. Also stars Jenny Agutter.
