Hills End: It had been meant as a joke. Adrian didn’t think his teacher would believe his wild tale about Aboriginal cave drawings up at the bluff, nor that she would set out to try and find them. But Paul, fearing for the safety of their teacher, publicly shames Adrian for his mischief. Too proud to admit defeat, Adrian leads Paul and six other students on a treacherous expedition. As they climb and search, clouds reach out and cover the sun. Now they must find their teacher before a violent storm breaks.
Ash Road: First there was the unnatural heat of the early morning, then the smell of smoke across the bush-covered hills…then sirens wailing and grown-ups behaving strangely. Gradually, out of all the confusion, came the realisation that almost all the adults were gone and a handful of children are left to deal with this dangerous crisis.
