September, 1939:  A few days after World War II is declared, the Pan American Clipper, the most luxurious aircraft ever built, makes its last Europe-New York civilian flight for the duration.  The passengers are desperate to escape something much more menacing than war – their hidden, haunted pasts. There is a titled English fascist and his eccentric family; a sheltered young beauty hungry for reckless love; a runaway wife and the American who seduced her; a feuding brother and sister; a handsome, charming thief; a wanted escapee and an ancient princess who has known better days. They will be thirty hours airborne, in the luxurious beds, the gourmet dining room, the endless champagne. But an inescapable nightmare awaits them all.
