Book II of the Norman trilogy. The death of the Conqueror left three sons: Robert inherited Normandy; England’s throne went to Rufus and Henry, the youngest, received 5,000 pounds of silver.  Robert lost Normandy in an orgy of extravagance;  Rufus scandalised the Court with his sexual perversions and contempt for the Church.  Henry, the cleverest, awaited his chance to fulfill his father’s prophecy and assume the title of the Lion of Justice.
