In space, a malfunctioning nuclear powered spy satellite explodes and is about to crash down on Los Angeles. In an effort to avert a disaster, the U.S. Governm,ent tries to bring the satellite down using lasers before it its the Earth. When a laser beam from the U.S. base hits the satellite it causes an enormous burst of energy centred over the suburban area of Monroe High School.
