  • In 1968, Erich von Daniken first presented his theory of alien contact with the ancient world - a theory so incredible, yet so compelling, that it has become part of a wide-ranging debate that continues to this day. His claims that an alien race helped create the pyramids of Egypt were based upon the ruins themselves. And it is these ruins that now provide researchers with a never-ending source of clues. There is new research that may demonstrate that the location and design of the pyramids were uniquely fit for preservation - something the Egyptians couldn't possibly have known; there are physical remains of the ships built by the Pharaohs and buried with them for travel in the afterlife - imitations, perhaps, of the ships they saw used by men from the sky? There are discoveries of hidden chambers and passageways, one of which ends at an ancient door - and none know what is beyond it.   There are prehistoric bones that may prove the existence of a worldwide cult that deformed children's skulls in imitation of the "gods" they had seen; and new interpretations of ancient writings - and new speculations on ancient mysteries.  Illustrated with black and white photographs.
  • Space and time form the very fabric of the cosmos. Yet they remain among the most mysterious of concepts. Is space an entity? Why does time have a direction? Could the universe exist without space and time? Can we travel to the past? Greene has set himself a daunting task: to explain non-intuitive, mathematical concepts like String Theory, the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, and Inflationary Cosmology with analogies drawn from common experience. From Newton’s unchanging realm in which space and time are absolute, to Einstein’s fluid conception of spacetime, to quantum mechanics’ entangled arena where vastly distant objects can instantaneously coordinate their behavior, Greene takes us all, regardless of our scientific backgrounds, on an irresistible and revelatory journey to the new layers of reality that modern physics has discovered lying just beneath the surface of our everyday world.
  • Book II of Riverworld. A world of resurrection where every soul who ever lived is brought back to indefinite life - where death is a momentary inconvenience. But even with the aid of one of the mysterious beings responsible for Riverworld and of Sam's Neanderthal blood-brother, he is hard put to bring his dream to life. There are others - King John, for example - who will stop at nothing to steal the Fabulous Riverboat...Cover art by Peter Jones.
