July 1910 - a gruesome discovery is made at 39 Hilltop Crescent, Camden. Buried in the cellar are the remains of Cora Crippen, former musical hall singer and wife of Dr. Hawley Crippen. And Crippen, together with his attractive mistress Ethel Le Neve, have vanished. Across the Channel in Antwerp, the SS Montrose is about to set sail for a two week voyage to Canada. Slipping almost unnoticed into the throng of 1300 passengers is a Mr John Robinson and his seventeen year old son Edmund.
