When the strangely scarred body of a tramp is discovered in a secluded Amsterdam park, Detective Van Hijn believes this is another victim of a serial killer currently terrorising the city. Discovered on the corpse are contact details for Jon Reed, who can identify the victim as Jake Colby, a stranger he took off the streets and into his London home for a few weeks.
