The dramatic events leading up to Operation Dynamo – the rescue by the British Army of fellow soldiers and Allied troops from Nazi occupied France. The Admiralty begins commandeering all suitable civilian boats to sail to Dunkirk to help evacuate troops from the beaches. Despite the dangers, boat owners rally and set sail, ready to ferry the stranded men to the British destroyers. Seen from the dual perspectives of a journalist in search of propaganda, a civilian and a weary soldier desperately trying to give his troops hope.
