In 1930s New York, Sonny - an ice cream vendor down on his luck - meets Charlie, a massive, taciturn wrestler. Worlds apart in character the two become friends. And when Angelo, a mob boss, mistakes them for dangerous assassins, the fun really begins. Instead of a fast mob 'hit' on a gambler, the pair rough up a Senator by mistake, who then declares war on the Mob. Angelo sends them to Little Italy until the heat's off, where they're meant to work as debt collectors. Instead, they befriend a poor family and help them by beating up two debt collectors from Angelo's rivals, the Colisomo debt collection gang ! Mob war is declared and a corrupt police chief is in danger of being exposed when he tries to arrest Charlie and Sonny. Classic slapstick comedy. This film was intended as a vehicle for the well-loved Bud Spencer/Terence Hill duo, but Hill dropped out at the last moment.
