Medieval Ireland, 1205 A.D. - a group of monks are called upon to escort a holy relic to Rome. As the true nature and the religious significance of the jewelled relic become apparent, the journey grows ever more treacherous and the monks must battle their way along a bloody road increasingly fraught with danger. The members of the group, lost in a wild land of ancient superstition, belatedly realise that the faith that binds them together may ultimately lead to their destruction.
