A group of rabbits, led by brave Hazel and his prophetic brother Fiver, fleeing their doomed Sandleford warren after Fiver foresees its violent destruction by humans. Their perilous journey to find a safe new home leads them through dangers, predators and rival warrens, eventually establishing a new community at Watership Down but facing a tyrannical neighboring warren run by the aggressive General Woundwort.
