Society has come to depend on a vast web of fibre-op cables and satellite networks, creating a denser matrix of computing power and communications paths round the planet. Thomas Richmond Tye III is the world's richest citizen and president of the mighty Tye Corporation. His ever-youthful features and public opinions are familiar to almost every inhabitant of the planet. But some feel that the Tye Corporation is dangerously out of control able to operate beyond the reach of any government and making the mosy powerful nation states feel threatened. Hendriksen, Tye's security chief is also alarmed at some of his boss's ambitions. And on meeting Hayley Voss, who is researching an unauthorised bio of Tye, Hendriksen is presented with new insights that test his corporate loyalty and he begins his own investigation. Just as Tye is making the final adjustments to deep space installations through which he can manipulate Earth's climate, the stage seems set for world wide economic collapse and global disaster on an unimaginable scale.
