Basia Bonkowski, television presenter and personality (? - 2022)was inspired by Jesse's short but wonderful life. A brave young Columbian boy, Jesse was adopted in 1992 and came to Australia to become part of a new family. But his life reached far beyond the family unit. When he was diagnosed with a rare genetic brain disease, he touched the hearts of family, friends, those of other adoptive families, their children and the networks and friendships forged in Jesse's birthplace - all a part of what became known as the global family. With the heart of an adoptive mother and the eye of a journalist, Basia told the stories of nine adoptive families, as well as the story of Jesse and the Scotts - the seed from which all the stories grew; and interlacing them with her own story. Illustrated with color photographs.
