Gabrielle Van Der Mal, a young gifted and strong willed Belgian girl, becomes Sister Luke and as a nun must remove all traces of her former self and sublimate herself as a devoted bride of Christ with no room for her personal desires and aspirations. She dedicates her life to the care of the sick as she battles to reconcile the demands of her Order with her pride as a nurse.
