Platoon: Dale A. Dye

Young idealist and patriot Chris Taylor has a mind full of glamorised and romanticised notions of war, even fantasising about glorious last stands. Chris comes from an educated family, dropping out of college and against the advice from his parents to volunteer for the infantry. The only thing Chris faces in Vietnam is disillusionment when he comes face to face with the harsh reality of war and the men who are fighting it. This novelisation is based on the screenplay by Oliver Stone; the author is a Vietnam veteran who served 21 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a technical adviser on this classic film of naive young men thrown into a war they did not understand.
