As the ancient super-continent of Gondwana disintegrated millions of years ago, the final schism came when Australia broke away from East Antarctica leaving it to die beneath the ice as Australia drifted north into the heat. When Lane, an amateur scientist, bases himself in an old farmhouse on Otway Ridge to study the birdlife, he finds a dangerous mystery. There is a lethal presence; and a peculiar hidden valley. There is Katrina, a strange recluse performing odd experiments with birdsong. His fascination with her leads him and his friends into a mythic realm that threatens to destroy them all.
