The  story of a passionate love, set in romantic - and sometimes cruel - India.  Mughal emperor Shah Jahan is only 15 years old when he meets the beautiful 12-year-old princess Arjumand. It is love at first sight, but Jahan's father has long since chosen another woman for him. Even after his marriage to his father’s choice, he cannot forget Arjumand. Their
passionate love helps them overcome many obstacles and eventually she becomes his wife. However, it is not meant to be for long: Arjumand dies a short time later. But their all-encompassing love extends beyond death: the deeply saddened Jahan has a marble mausoleum built for his beloved: the Taj Mahal.
