Technical writer and volunteer fireman Charles Forrester died at age 37 - burned to death. But his insurance covered freezing in liquid nitrogen against the possibility of someday being thawed, repaired, and returned to life. Which is how he woke up in 2527 - to find the world a delightful place. The people around him were bright and vivacious and his 'joymaker' did absolutely everything for him. However, the quarter of a million dollars from his insurance was no longer very much money (two mill being regarded as a bare subsistence income) and so - he had to find a job.
