The Battling Prophet: Arthur Upfield

Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte 20. Ben Wickham, a famous meteorologist who uncannily accurate forecasts have helped farmers and graziers Australia - wide, dies after a three week drinking bout.  The doctor certifies death by heart failure, due to alcoholic poisoning. But Ben's neighbour and drinking partner, John Luton, is certain that his old friend didn't die of an overdose of gin. Luton manages to lure 'Bony' Bonaparte to his riverside cottage near the South Australian coast on an unofficial visit for a spot of fishing.  There, Bony's suspicions grow and he decides to sit back, cast his baited hook into the river and wait for the inevitable bites...Cover art by Stephen Graham.
