The Sixth Lamentation: William Brodrick

Father Anselm of Larkwood Priory is stopped after afternoon confessions by an old man in the nave. He wants to know what a man should do when the world has turned against him. Anselm advises him to seek sanctuary. Later that evening the old man returns, demanding the protection of the Church. His name is Eduard Schwermann and he is wanted by the police. Meanwhile, Agnes Aubret feels that it's time to tell her granddaughter Lucy the family secrets. Fifty years ago, Agnes was a member of a small group in occupied Paris smuggling Jewish children to safety - until they were exposed by a young SS officer: Eduard Schwermann...But Father Anselm discovers that history is more slippery and much more complicated than it first appears.
